Book Review: Captivating

I just finished reading the book titled “Captivating – Unveiling the mystery of a Woman’s Soul” by John & Stasi Eldredge and the content has been a watershed of inspiration, encouragement and counseling.
The thesis of this book is to discover the inner questions women are wired by God to ask, and the effects of life wounding us, and reducing our capacities through these wounds. This is not a check list of do’s and don;ts but much rather practical deep truthes that we need to wrestle with. John and Stasi dig deep to provide the information and truth to shed light on what counselors may take years to extract to the surface.
John and Stasi weave their two perspectives into one well thought out discussion. Their approach was to offer light, knowledge, and clarity to how we are wired, and what we are designed to be. While I was reading I seemed to have one thought – A Box of kleenex and soul filled introspection optional, but if you want to grow you must lean into the insight offered and allow God to grow you, heal your wounds (everyone has them) and release you to be all he has designed you to be. I would suggest that this become one of the essential books every christian woman reads, and shares with others.
I highly recommend this book.
